FAMILY PLUS Children's - January 28

Hey everyone!

Last week was a great week with your kids, and we are just now reaching the middle of our study of Old Testament characters. I hope your kids really enjoyed getting to try the food from the Philippines. Most of them enjoyed the banana chips and dried mango; however, I'm curious how many of your kids really enjoyed THE shrimp chips. I have to be honest...they weren't my favorite food. I'm grateful your kids are willing to try the new food. I pray that it has began to help them appreciate more and more of the cultures around the world.

Scripture: Judges 13-16 (Samson)
Life Application: I can learn from my mistakes.
Memory Verse: Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
Prayer for the Nations: Philippines

Don't forget our parent challenge for the month is to speak to your spouse and create an internet policy now for your child. To aid your effort to accomplish this, we will be hosting a Virtual Brown Bag Lunch on Thursday, February 2 from11:30-12:30. Pack your lunch and plan on spending it with us as we breakdown internet safety. Details below!

CentriKid Camp - June 23-28, Campbellsville, KY $275
Don't forget to sign your 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders up for CentriKid Camp. Sign ups are coming to a close very soon

Virtual Brown Bag Lunch
Join the New Generations Team for lunch from your computer on Thursday, February 2 from 11:30am-12:30pm!
This will be an interactive internet experience where we will address how to "Protect your Family Online". You'll be amazed at what your kids can access! For instance, by the age of 18, 94% of boys and 63% of girls will have seen pornographic material on the Internet. You will have a chance to eat your lunch, ask questions, and gain practical insight to immediately upgrade internet safety in your home.
Go to www.gladevillechurch.org and click "Watch Live" on the homescreen in order to view the Virtual Brown Bag on Thursday, February 2 at 11:30am.

FAMILY PLUS Children's - January 19

Hey everyone!

No matter how big the barrier God wants to guide you. That's the "heart and soul" of our message in Kidstuf this week. Sometimes we have great barriers in front of us; however, God, the creator of all things, can easily move us through those barriers. That's exactly what he has done in my life over the past month while trying to plan and implement a KidzDays camp in East Tennessee. God has rewritten my plan of action and shaped it into a better plan. That's exactly what he does with Gideon in this week's lesson too.

Here are the details:

Scripture: Judges 6-8 (Gideon)
Life Application: I can trust God to guide me!
Memory Verse: “Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
Prayer for the Nations: Philippines - Allergy Alert: This week we are trying dried mangos, banana chips from the Philippines. Mmmmm! Also, you will have the option for your children to try a "Shrimp Chip" when you pick them up. Due to shellfish allergies you will have the option of getting a bag for your kids and giving it to them yourself.

In our prayers, we often ask God to guide us, and we fail to put any action behind that plea. For instance, we may ask God to help provide more money for our family, but do we seek for higher paying jobs or alternative ways to make money? Or we may ask God to make our relationship with our child better, but do we intentionally spend more time with the child to gradually build up the relationship? That is what this month's parent challenge is about! We often pray for God to "protect our children", but do we take steps to ensure their safety. Often times we do in the physical world as we know it (look both ways before crossing the street, say "no" to strangers); however, their world is becoming less physical and more digital. Protect them in the world that they live in by speaking to your spouse and creating an internet policy now for your child. We've tried to help you out by providing a clear way. Click here to see that "clear way" in detail!

FAMILY PLUS Children's - January 13

Hey Everyone!

I hope you were able to take advantage of the Courageous movie last night. It was a great night, full of great food and great families! Today's F+ email is going to be a little different, so make sure you check it all out.

Here are the details for this week:

Scripture: Judges 4 (Deborah and Barak)
Life Application: I can follow God’s instructions!
Memory Verse: “Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
Prayer for the Nations: Philippines - Rick Prall is coming to share pictures and stories from his time in the Philippines. Your kids always have great questions to ask our visitors...I'm excited!

There is one big thing that I want to make you aware of. In fact, I'm changing our parent challenge for the rest of January. Sometimes God puts things on our heart that we can't ignore.

My challenge for you is to speak to your spouse and create an internet policy now for your child. Let me explain why God has laid this on my heart. Often times internet policies aren't even thought of till your kids are in middle or high school. If you think of it now, it will probably save your family from a struggle later on down the road. For instance, your 1st-5th grader will put up less of a fight (if any fight) now about the internet than later when they are receiving peer pressure to view certain sites and material. We have a way to protect your kids on their mobile devices (smart phones, ipods, ipads, etc.) and any computer that is in your home.

Michael Eubanks has been doing some great work to serve our families at The Glade Church concerning this issue. Here is where you can find the deal that he has set up for each of you!

Do this now and it will save your family and kids some heartache. If you need further explanation or help, let me know!

FAMILY PLUS Children's - January 6

Hey everyone!

I hope you were able to attend Wednesday night's Family Plus Event. It was a ton of fun! If you missed it, you can still get the information that was shared that night. Please contact me if you were not able to attend and I will be happy to fill you in!

Here are the details of what your kids are learning this week:

Scripture: Joshua 6:1-20 (The Fall of Jericho)
Life Application: I can recognize God’s power in the world!
Memory Verse: “Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
Prayer for the Nations: Phillippines

This month in Kidstuf we will be learning about leaders in the Bible who were able to hear from God and respond to Him in obedience (most of the time anyway). Your kids often ask questions similar to this one...”How can we hear God?” This month you need to answer that question with your child because if they can’t figure out how to understand God, how will they be able to follow Him? God is calling some of your children as we speak, help them hear His voice!
