FAMILY PLUS Children's - April 14

Hey everyone!

Here are the details for the week:

Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 (Walk to Emmaus)
Life Application: I can know Jesus is alive.
Memory Verse: “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where His body was lying.” Matthew 28:6
Prayer for the Nations: Saudi Arabia - This week we are learning some language from Saudi Arabia.

Today, Katie and I are taking Carter to meet up with some friends who we haven't seen in over a year and a half. Last time they saw Carter, he was only a month or two old. They are coming to town to walk in order to help raise money for a specific cause. They are giving time, money, energy, and more to travel 4 hrs for this specific cause. As long as I've known this family, they have always been intentional about giving up time and energy different causes. I've seen them doing stuff for everything from the local school to breast cancer to mitochondrial disease.

All of these are great reasons to give of your time and energy; however, I'm going to step out on a limb and say that (second to your relationship with Christ) you should value your relationship with your family more than any other cause. Do you sacrifice time at work for your family or is it the other way around? Do you expend all of your energy during the day and sit comatose in front of the television all night? If so, let me challenge you with this thought: What cause in your life is greater than your family? This is a question I will be pondering along with you this week!

After Jesus came back to life, he spent time walking on the road to Emmaus, revealing himself to his followers. Maybe you need to take a walk with your kids today. Maybe after you leave the ballpark today you can get some ice cream and sit on the tail gate of your truck to talk. Whatever it is, give up some time specifically for your kids today, and show them they are worth it.
