Hey everyone!
When I was a senior in high school our student ministry was preparing for summer camp. In preparation for camp our leader paired us up with other students to pray for them. The task given to me was to pray for a 7th grader named Casey for 5 minutes each day. Casey was a great kid from rough home. I did my best to pray for him with all I had. Then the day to leave for camp arrived. Casey showed up and we left. He had a great start to his week, and then suddenly toward the middle of camp, Casey said, "Yes!" to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as Savior. When I heard the news of course I was initially excited. Then I remember being humbled that the young man I prayed for was moved to the point to make Christ his Savior.
Of course it was never my prayers that saved him, that was only the work of the Holy Spirit, but this experience did confirm for me the need for specific prayers to be offered to God for people. Hebrews 10:24 comes to my mind. It's a ministry of encouraging our loved ones toward a more godly life, or maybe the start of a godly life.
This week have your child pick 1 of their friends to pray for during the week of Summer Jam.
Here are this weeks details:
Scripture: Acts 12:1-19
Memory Verse: “You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Matthew 21:22
Prayer for the Nations: Egypt - This week a church member that was born and raised in Egypt will be sharing about his country with your children.
Don't forget Summer Jam starts this Monday!
