Just this morning Katie and I took the boys and our niece (all 5 yrs and under...whew!) to a local event. At that event, a lady called Carter and our niece over to show them a book she had written that wasn't based on the truth of Scripture. It was a combination of some Scripture and some of her own beliefs. Once Katie realized that and the lady was trying to convince the kids to buy her book, she had to "speak up" for the sake of our kids. She didn't do it in a rude way. She was simply brave enough to stand up for the truth of Scripture and explain to the kids why we didn't share the same beliefs of that lady. After leaving, Katie said, "I feel bad because I didn't want to be seen as rude...(short pause) You know what? I don't feel bad for standing up for what we believe."
Your kids want to hear you "speak up" for them. Just make sure you're speaking up for things that have eternal impact!
