Cock-A-Doodle-Do! - FAMILY PLUS Children's

We're looking at Christ through Peter's eyes over the next few weeks and this week we're looking at one of the most important moments in Peter's life - when Peter ate breakfast with Jesus. At this point you have to understand that Peter was carrying a heavy burden in life because he had denied that he was a Christ follower 3 times at Jesus' death. In fact, church tradition informs us that throughout the rest of Peter's life he would be ridiculed for that decision by others. People would walk by him in the market or on the road a say "cock-a-doodle-do!" just to remind him of this failure.

In John 21, Jesus restores Peter by asking him 3 times if he loves Him. This was intentional on Jesus' part. Jesus wanted Peter to know he was forgiven for that night that he denied Jesus 3 times. God's love is unconditional in Jesus Christ and that's what we will focus on Sunday morning with your kids.

The details are:
Scripture: John 21:1-19
Memory Verse: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8
Prayer for the Nations: We're praying for Operation Christmas Child boxes being shipped around the world.
